BEIJING: China and Japan on Sunday agreed to enhance dialogue and communication at various levels and convene a new round of bilateral high-level economic dialogue at an appropriate time as Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on the sidelines of the ninth Trilateral Summit Meeting among China, Japan and South Korea in Seoul.
Li urged Japan to earnestly fulfill its responsibilities and obligations regarding the release of the nuclear-contaminated wastewater from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.
The release of the wastewater bears on the health of humanity, Li added.
It is hoped that Japan will keep its promises, properly handle the Taiwan question and work with China to build a constructive and stable China-Japan relationship that meets the requirements of the new era, he said.
Kishida said Japan is willing to strengthen cooperation with China and promote a strategic relationship of mutual benefit.
