Wang Yi, director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Thursday said that China will continue to support Sudan’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, during his meeting with Malik Agar, deputy chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council, in Beijing.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, voiced China’s support for Sudan in realizing its domestic peace and stability, and in exploring the road of development that is in line with its own national conditions.

No matter how the situation changes, China’s position of developing China-Sudan relations will never change, Wang told Agar.

Agar mentioned that China has become a role model for developing countries to learn from, stressing Sudan will firmly promote the development of relations between the two countries without any external interference.

The Sudanese side attaches importance to China’s important role in international affairs and thanks China for paying attention to the situation in the Sudan, Agar added.

Wang also pointed out that stabilizing the Sudan as soon as possible is not only in the fundamental interests of the Sudanese people, but also conducive to regional peace and security.

China supports the Sudanese parties in advancing the Sudanese-led political process through dialogue and consultation, he said and vowed to continue to provide assistance within China’s capacity.

Wang added that he believes the Sudanese people will be able to overcome their difficulties and put the country back on the right track of stability and development.
