ISLAMABAD: A police constable has died from severe injuries, and over 70 officers were injured during violent clashes with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protesters in Islamabad.

Constable Mubashir, 46, succumbed to head injuries after PTI protesters allegedly attacked police personnel near Hakla. The injured officer was rushed to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Hassan Abdal, where he was later pronounced dead. Mubashir is survived by his wife, two daughters, and a son.

Seventy other police officers sustained injuries during the unrest, with wounds on their heads, arms, and legs. Authorities are working to identify the perpetrators using CCTV footage. “Those responsible will be brought to justice,” said a police spokesperson, reiterating law enforcement’s commitment to public safety.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the injured officers at the hospital, extending condolences to Mubashir’s family and honouring his sacrifice. “Constable Mubashir achieved martyrdom in the line of duty,” said Naqvi. “The government stands with his family in this time of grief, and all perpetrators will face legal consequences.”

Mubashir was stationed with the Rawalpindi police and hailed from Muzaffargarh.
