ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has warmly welcomed a group of Palestinian students to Pakistan, offering them free education and support during their stay in the country.

Speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad on Wednesday, the PM reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to assisting Palestinians, particularly those affected by the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

“Pakistan is your second home, and we will ensure your stay here is comfortable,” Sharif told the students, assuring them of quality education at no cost. He commended organisations like Al-Khidmat Foundation for their efforts in supporting students from war-torn regions.

During his address, PM Shehbaz lamented the international community’s failure to stop the “genocide” of Palestinians.

“It is heart-wrenching to watch the brutalities and atrocities committed by the Israeli occupation forces,” he said, referencing the deaths of over 43,000 Palestinians and the destruction of cities.

He expressed regret over the inaction of the international community, citing that speeches, resolutions, and commitments had yet to bring an end to the violence in Gaza.

PM Shehbaz drew parallels to the international intervention in conflicts like Bosnia, where global action eventually led to peace after mass casualties.

He extended heartfelt sympathies on behalf of the people and government of Pakistan, vowing to take all necessary measures to support the Palestinian students.

The PM also promised that more students from Gaza would be invited to pursue their education in Pakistan, with all costs covered by the government.

He concluded by highlighting the strength and resilience of the Palestinian people, saying their hope inspires the world.
