RAWALPINDI: The PTI, North Punjab chapter, on Saturday launched preparations for a movement demanding the release of PTI founder Imran Khan.
On the instructions of PTI North Punjab President Malik Taimur Masood, a programme was organised in Tehsil Kallar Syedan for the “Free Imran Khan” movement, scheduled for Aug 5.
PTI North Punjab Vice President Zubair Khan and Deputy General Secretary Fayyaz Tabassum attended the event and urged party workers to leave their homes and actively participate in the movement.
The meeting was presided over by Chaudhry Amir Afzal, PTI Rawalpindi district president, along with General Secretary Khan Aqil Khan. It was also attended by former MPA Latasub Satti and Shabbir Awan.
Speaking to Dawn, Mr Afzal said all PTI office-bearers and workers had been asked to set aside internal differences and focus solely on the movement to free Imran Khan. He urged them to go door-to-door to deliver Imran Khan’s message.
He added that similar meetings would be held in other tehsils starting Sunday. He further stated that workers had been instructed to mobilise supporters within their respective union councils and that Rawalpindi district would fully participate in the campaign.
