Wahab rejects reports of Bilawal’s wedding as unfounded

KARACHI: Karachi Mayor and PPP leader Murtaza Wahab has termed reports pertaining to party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari’s engagement and wedding “incorrect and unfounded”.

There has been no comment on the matter from Bilawal or his family.

Wahab’s clarification, posted on X late at night on Saturday, came after reports circulated that the party’s chairman and son of President Asif Ali Zardari was preparing to marry into a European family.

The reports, circulating on social media, claimed that President Zardari had travelled to Liechtenstein — a small sovereign state between Switzerland and Austria — to discuss and set a date for his son’s wedding.

There were also claims that Bilawal’s prospective bride was a former Austrian princess.

Daily Ausaf also reported that wedding preparations for the 38-year-old were under way, citing unspecified sources. It claimed that the president was currently on a private tour of Europe in connection with the matter.

The report was later deleted.

On August 27, the Presidency posted on X that Zardari “has proceeded abroad on a private visit”, but did not share any further details.
