Shandong Govt pursuing new development philosophy envisioned by President Xi

BEIJING, China – Chief of Communist Party of China Shandong Province Mr. Liu Jiayi Tuesday said that the provincial government was pursuing the new development philosophy of President Xi Jinping, undertaking eight major developments strategies to harness the talent of our youth. Shandong  is a coastal province of the People’s Republic of China, and is part of the East China region.

Shandong has played a major role in Chinese history since the beginning of Chinese civilization along the lower reaches of the Yellow River. Shandong has emerged as one of the most affluent provinces in the People’s Republic of China, with a GDP of CNY¥7.65 trillion in 2018, or USD$1.156 trillion, making it China’s third wealthiest province.

Addressing a press conference here at the State Council office, Mr Liu briefed the media on the steps being taken by the provincial government to showcase its economic and social development.

“We are acting on the new development philosophy and undertaking eight major developments strategies including economic growth, rural revitalization, maritime power house, coordinated regional development, three critical battles, military-civilian integration, new heights of opening-up and major infrastructure. We are doing it according to the instruction and addresses of President Xi Jinping during his inspection tours to Shandong,” Mr Liu said.

Development in Shandong Province

He said Shandong is home to galaxy of talent and has a time-honored history and the government was making all out efforts to showcase it. He added that Shandong’s GDP grew to 7.65 trillion RMB yuan in year 2018 from 4.38 billion RMB yuan in 1952 – an increase of 344.4 times in comparable price.“Development is top priority, talent is the primary resource and innovation is the primary driving force. Shandong government has provided more than 10 billion RMB of fiscal fund every year to develop provincial level mega science plan and mega science platform for entrepreneurship community, enterprises, talent, research, finance and service and application. We have been an active participant in the Belt and Road initiative (BRI),” he added.

Mr Liu said Shandong Province has boomed in cultural programs and industries equally.“We have made all round efforts in building the system of public cultural services,” he and added that the provincial government has built 541 museums, 154 public libraries, 157 public art centers and cultural centers, 53 galleries and 1815 cultural stations.

He asserted Shandong has business exchanges with over 230 countries and regions besides having a very strong connection with the rest of the globe.

“We have world’s 90 direct flight routes, over 600 shipping routes and more than 600 China railway express trains to Europe and Asia. This reflects the level of phenomenal success achieved by the province,” he concluded.
