- DiploMag becomes country’s first China-only outfit to counter fake news about China, BRI, CPEC
ISLAMABAD – DiploMag Magazine, the first-ever Pakistani outfit exclusively covering China, Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and China, Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), was launched here at the fifth CPEC Media Forum 2019.
Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Chairman of Pakistan, China Institute (PCI) officially launched the DiploMag while Editor-in-Chief of China Economic Net, senior anchorperson Saleem Khan Safi, former Ambassador Hassan Javed Naqvi, CPEC experts Syed Ali Nawaz Gilani, Maimoona Zainab Kazmi, Chaudhry Shafique Gujjar and others were also present on the occasion.
Unveiling the DiploMag, Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed said that in the midst of western media propaganda targeting China and its interests, DiploMag was a welcome sign to putting facts straight and countering fake news.

Addressing the audience, Editor of DiploMag Mian Abrar said that DiploMag is Pakistan’s first and only magazine which covers China and its interests worldwide including BRI and CPEC.
“The world is in an age of great progress, great transformation and profound changes. Media is better placed than never before to bring the grand vision of building a community of shared future for mankind to reality and plays an irreplaceable role in this process. Today, information diffuses to an unprecedented wide range of the world at a speed faster than never before, wielding a colossal impact on the world,” he said.
He said that we are living in the information age where information has become a war tool to shape up opinions, build perceptions and distort and destroy images without firing a single shot.

“Hence, nations need to adapt and equip the modern tools accordingly. China and Pakistan have been a victim of fifth generation war imposed on us by the western world. It’s an irony that we are facing an agenda-driven hybrid war based on lies, falsehood and fake news which has badly impacted our image worldwide as the western world has painted our very negative picture to the world,” he said.
Mian Abrar said since the introduction of Belt and Road Initiative, the western media has unleashed the same war on China and China is under attack from all sides. “The BRI is not the only target and the Indian opposition to CPEC has united many forces against China and Pakistani interests,” he said and added that it’s incumbent upon us all to counter the fake news with facts and logic and tell the world what is being hidden from it.
“With the power of balance shifting from the west towards the east and China set to overtake as world’s biggest economic giant, the western media has unleashed a vicious and wicked propaganda against China and its interests.

“It is about time that the media act as a bridge to safeguard future of the mankind, defeat the fake news and objectively work towards defusing tensions and resolving conflicts. Hence, I thought it is time to launch the country’s first China-only magazine to better inform the readers on BRI, CPEC and other initiatives of China and Pakistan,” he said.

He said that DiploMag is a humble effort to expose, contradict, denounce and counter the false, fake and fabricated propaganda against China and its interests.
“Countering the negative agenda, we are also working to tell the world the story of peaceful rise of China as the world’s new economic power due to which the US and its western allies feel threatened and they are spreading lies targeting China and its leadership”.

Calling for the need to expand and promote media cooperation between Chinese and Pakistani media outlets, Mian Abrar said that it will contribute to the prosperity and development of the region and the civilizations.

We have engaged in extensive cooperation with world media, bilaterally and multilaterally, in news reporting, content production, information technology, human resources development etc. to enhance the mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese people and people of the world and build a bridge for the exchanges and mutual learning between different civilizations,” he concluded.
