At Big Data Expo, Huawei chief vows to fight 5G challenge like ‘Soviet Union fighter aircraft’

GUIYANG, China – Thousands of participants from 400 International and local Information Technology companies gathered at the Big Data Expo 2019 on technology and hi-tech here and vowed to extend and expand bilateral cooperation to benefit the world.

The three-day Expo which commenced on May 26 here attended by over 100,000 visitors from various regions and nations where top notch technology company had showcased their innovative products. The Theme of this year’s Expo was, “Data creates more value, innovation brings a better future”.

According to a report by market researcher International Data Corp and data storage firm Seagate said that with increasingly wider applications of digital technologies in China, the country is expected to generate and store 27.8 percent of global online data by 2025, up from 23.4 percent last year.

In comparison, the US share will stand at 17.5 percent by 2025, a drop from its 21 percent share in 2018. Meanwhile, expo organized 9 high level dialogues for global big data enterprises and industrial leaders and as well as lots of professionals.

It merits mention here that China and US have locked horns over the launching of Fifth Generation Technology (5G) and sensing that China may take lead in the process, the US has put sanctions on China’s tech giant Huawei, triggering China to put sanctions on US products, taking China, US trade war to the next level.

During the dialogue conference over 5G, Mr. Lu Yong, vice-president of Huawei Technologies Co, said that China’s digital economy has thrived on the basis that China has built the World’s largest 4G network.

“5G is revolution in technology. It helps in our daily life and we spent 200 billion RMB from year 2009 to 2018 on innovation of 5G technology,” he said.

“5G is not just a faster 4G. It will fundamentally reshape how enterprises run businesses and overhaul a wide range of industries by using data to create more value,” Lu said and added that Huawei fights like Soviet Union fighter aircraft and now we are facing a lot of challenges, however, he vowed that Huawei has survived and it will fight against any challenge in future.

 

Big Data Expo has built a strong brand identity and established itself as World’s leading and most oriented technology expo in a very short span of time. Expo 2019 was hosted by China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), Cyber administration and Guizhou Provincial People’s government.

At the opening ceremony of expo, President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message which was read out by Mr. Wang Chen, the Member of Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress.

“The new generation of information technology represented by Internet, big data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is booming, which brings significant and far-reaching impact on economic development, social progress and people’s lives of various countries,” Xi’s said in the letter.

He said that countries need to strengthen cooperation, deepen exchanges, seize the opportunities of digital, network and intelligent development as well as properly handle the challenges for big data in law enforcement, security and government management.

“China highly values the development of big data industry and we stand ready to share opportunities of digital economy with all countries,” he added. “We will seek new growth impetus and development path through exploring new technology, new business forms and new models,” the president maintained.
