CPEC: China, Pakistan identify new projects for year 2020; says Amb Yao Jing

ISLAMABAD – Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing Monday said that China and Pakistan have identified new projects of Agriculture, Education, Health and Infrastructure building under the new phase of China, Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in year 2020.

Addressing to the participants of a Sangam Club Gala 2019 here at the Chinese Embassy building, the Ambassador said that both China and Pakistan had identified clear targets for the year 2020 after detailed deliberations under the Joint Cooperation Committee and its Joint Working Groups.

He said that China and Pakistan would also further defence cooperation keeping in view regional and global changes taking place. He said that targets have also been identified for cooperation in poverty alleviation and social sector development for year 2020.

Commercial Councilor, Chinese Embassy Mr Wang Zhihua said Pakistan and China have great relationship and industrialist cooperation is top priority in year 2020. Mohammed Asghar of HEC said that Chinese work extensively and very hard to make CPEC a success. He said Chinese education institutions have grown immensely over the past few decades and it is time for the world to adopt Look East policy. He said over 28000 Pakistani students are learning in China but best model for students before travelling to China is to learn about Chinese language and culture.

The ceremony was concluded with a number of cultural performances, including a martial arts display by Pakistani students and a performance by a collaborative musical band that had both Chinese and Pakistani members.

Pakistani citizens from all walks of life attended the function who are members of Pakistan, China alumni and have visited China in recent years on the invitation of the Chinese Embassy. The purpose of the gala was to get these people together under one roof to share their diverse experiences in China, exchange notes, and provide suggestions for further promoting people-to-people exchanges between Pakistani and Chinese people.
