Two explosions near checkpoint in Hangu kill SP, two police officers

PESHAWAR: Two explosions have occured near a police checkpoint in Hangu, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Superintendent of Police Operations Asad Zubair and two police officers were martyred in the blast, the police confirmed.

According to sources, the first explosion took place near the checkpoint, and as the late SP Asad Zubair was heading to the scene, a second blast occured. The injured secuirty personnel has been shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital.

K-P Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has condemned the attack and has sought an immediate report from the Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed. “The incident is deeply tragic, and those responsible will be brough to justice at all costs.”

“The sacrifices of SP Operations and the two martyred officers will not go in vain.” He added that such cowardly attacks cannot weaken the resolve of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and the police.

CM Afridi prayed for the departed officers and the strength for their bereaved families. The chief minister has convened a meeting of the Apex Committee to review the province’s security situation.
