{"id":913,"date":"2026-05-11T15:07:53","date_gmt":"2026-05-11T15:07:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diplomag.com.pk\/?p=913"},"modified":"2026-05-11T15:25:21","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T15:25:21","slug":"dar-lauds-us-help-in-repatriating-pakistani-iranian-seafarers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diplomag.com.pk\/index.php\/2026\/05\/11\/dar-lauds-us-help-in-repatriating-pakistani-iranian-seafarers\/","title":{"rendered":"Dar lauds US help in repatriating Pakistani, Iranian seafarers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>ISLAMABAD<\/strong>: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday appreciated the United States&#8217; assistance in the repatriation of Pakistani and Iranian seafarers via Singapore during a meeting with Charg\u00e9 d\u2019Affaires Natalie Baker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Natalie called on FM Dar in Islamabad, where they discussed the evolving regional situation and the broader Pakistan-US bilateral relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFM Dar highlighted Pakistan\u2019s role in facilitating communication between the US and Iran, while expressing hope that the ongoing diplomatic efforts would contribute to peace and stability in the region and beyond,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last week, FM Dar had requested Singapore\u2019s assistance in facilitating the welfare and repatriation of 11 Pakistani and 20 Iranian seafarers aboard vessels seized by US authorities and currently located near Singaporean waters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also mentioned that he had spoken with Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi, emphasising that Pakistan remained in close coordination with Iran on the matter. \u201cPakistan is also ready to facilitate the safe repatriation of Iranian nationals to Iran via Pakistan,\u201d he had added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FM Dar had expressed gratitude for Singapore\u2019s cooperation and support, noting that the Foreign Office and relevant authorities were working with US officials and other parties to ensure the safety, welfare, and timely return of the nationals involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last week, Pakistan also facilitated the transfer of 22 Iranian crew members held aboard the container ship MV Touska, seized by the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday appreciated the United States&#8217; assistance in the repatriation of Pakistani and Iranian seafarers via Singapore during a meeting with Charg\u00e9 d\u2019Affaires Natalie Baker.
