{"id":663,"date":"2026-04-22T15:43:36","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T15:43:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diplomag.com.pk\/?p=663"},"modified":"2026-04-22T15:43:49","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T15:43:49","slug":"uk-envoy-lauds-pakistans-role-in-bringing-us-iran-to-talks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diplomag.com.pk\/index.php\/2026\/04\/22\/uk-envoy-lauds-pakistans-role-in-bringing-us-iran-to-talks\/","title":{"rendered":"UK envoy lauds Pakistan\u2019s role in bringing US, Iran to talks"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>ISLAMABAD<\/strong>: British High Commissioner Jane Marriott on Wednesday praised and supported &#8220;Pakistan\u2019s facilitative role in bringing the US and Iran to the negotiating table&#8221; during a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a statement shared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) on X, both sides discussed the evolving regional situation, while &#8220;FM Dar underscored Pakistan\u2019s ongoing efforts to facilitate engagement and emphasised the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in the peaceful resolution of disputes.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The British envoy &#8220;appreciated and supported Pakistan\u2019s facilitative role in bringing the US and Iran to the negotiating table,&#8217; the statement added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dar also spoke with Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both leaders exchanged views on the latest regional developments and reaffirmed the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in peaceful settlement of disputes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FM Dar has received unprecedented international recognition for his diplomatic leadership, as Pakistan positioned itself at the centre of high-stakes mediation efforts during the escalating Iran-US-Israel crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the past week, senior officials and influential voices from more than ten countries, including Saudi Arabia, Iran, the US, China, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, and Uzbekistan, have publicly acknowledged Dar&#8217;s role in facilitating ceasefire negotiations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pakistan emerged as a central facilitator in the sensitive diplomatic track, positioning itself as an \u201chonest broker\u201d amid sharply polarised positions between Washington and Tehran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After 40 days of airstrikes, US and Iranian negotiators opened talks in Islamabad earlier this month following a two-week ceasefire brokered by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
