{"id":3617,"date":"2026-10-16T16:23:43","date_gmt":"2026-10-16T16:23:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diplomag.com.pk\/?p=3617"},"modified":"2026-10-16T16:23:43","modified_gmt":"2026-10-16T16:23:43","slug":"fo-condemns-indian-ministers-provocative-remarks-threatening-action-against-pakistan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diplomag.com.pk\/index.php\/2026\/10\/16\/fo-condemns-indian-ministers-provocative-remarks-threatening-action-against-pakistan\/","title":{"rendered":"FO condemns Indian minister\u2019s \u2018provocative\u2019 remarks threatening action against Pakistan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ISLAMABAD<\/strong> : The Foreign Office (FO) on Friday condemned Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh\u2019s \u201cprovocative remarks\u201d threatening aggression against Pakistan, saying such statements highlighting the neighbouring country\u2019s \u201chegemonistic mindset\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Singh on Thursday had warned Pakistan that any \u201cfresh terrorist activity from across the border would invite a strike even bigger than the last time\u201d, according to Indian news agency <em>ANI<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, FO spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan was asked about the comments during his weekly press briefing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPakistan rejects and condemns the Indian defence minister\u2019s provocative remarks entailing a threat of Indian aggression against Pakistan. Such reckless statements reflect India\u2019s hegemonistic mindset and the risk its belligerent posture poses to regional peace and stability in South Asia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wish to remind India of the consequences of its military aggression in May last year, when Pakistan demonstrated both its capability and resolve to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity and gave a befitting response and reply to Indian aggression,\u201d he said, referring to the brief military conflict between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>He said that there should be \u201cno ambiguity\u201d that Pakistan remained fully prepared to safeguard its \u201csovereignty and territorial integrity\u201d against any \u201cill-advised aggression\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Haider said Pakistan\u2019s \u201crestraint and commitment to peace\u201d should not be mistaken for weakness, warning that any aggression would be met with a \u201cforceful response\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndia should draw an appropriate lesson from last year\u2019s experience and abandon its belligerent posture and dangerous rhetoric and act with responsibility for lasting peace in the region,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>During the briefing, the FO spokesperson was also asked about China\u2019s comments regarding India\u2019s move to recognise and standardise the names of 28 geographical features in Ladakh, a disputed territory claimed by India. China had opposed the move, terming it \u201cillegal\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson was asked about the development in the context of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.<\/p>\n<p>Khan said that said India\u2019s actions on Aug 5, 2019, which revoked the special autonomy of occupied Kashmir, were \u201cillegal and void\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the move could not alter the fact that Jammu and Kashmir was an internationally recognised disputed territory whose final status must be determined in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.<\/p>\n<h2>Digitisation of attestation services<\/h2>\n<p>During the press briefing, the FO spokesperson was also asked about the reforms introduced to the ministry\u2019s attestation and apostille services.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, the Federal Investigation Agency\u2019s Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad had busted a network allegedly involved in the preparation and use of fake apostille stickers in connivance with officials from the foreign ministry.<\/p>\n<p>Khan said on Friday that the foreign ministry was progressively digitising and automating apostille services to make them faster, more transparent and accessible.<\/p>\n<p>He said that e-attestation had been launched through the ministry\u2019s portal, while the transition to e-apostille services was under way.<\/p>\n<p>He added that eligible applicants could be exempted from \u201cphysical appearances, subject to prescribed safeguards\u201d, a move that would particularly facilitate overseas Pakistanis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a massive leap forward,\u201d he said, adding that the process was ongoing and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar had personally steered the initiative.<\/p>\n<p>He said that an inquiry into irregularities regarding the services was underway and the results would be announced when it was completed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD : The Foreign Office (FO) on Friday condemned Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh\u2019s \u201cprovocative remarks\u201d threatening aggression against Pakistan, saying such statements highlighting the neighbouring country\u2019s \u201chegemonistic mindset\u201d.
