{"id":3138,"date":"2026-09-21T17:09:30","date_gmt":"2026-09-21T17:09:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diplomag.com.pk\/?p=3138"},"modified":"2026-09-21T17:09:30","modified_gmt":"2026-09-21T17:09:30","slug":"iran-praises-pakistans-regional-peace-efforts-during-naqvis-meeting-with-iranian-counterpart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diplomag.com.pk\/index.php\/2026\/09\/21\/iran-praises-pakistans-regional-peace-efforts-during-naqvis-meeting-with-iranian-counterpart\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran praises Pakistan\u2019s regional peace efforts during Naqvi\u2019s meeting with Iranian counterpart"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ISLAMABAD<\/strong>: Iran on Monday thanked Pakistan\u2019s military and civilian leadership for its efforts for regional peace and stability.<\/p>\n<p>The development came as Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who headed to Tehran earlier in the day, met with Iranian counterpart Eskandar Momeni.<\/p>\n<p>According to the interior ministry, the two exchanged views on \u201cPakistan-Iran bilateral relations and the latest situation in the region\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The statement said the Iranian minister thanked Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for their efforts towards advancing peace in the region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful for Pakistan\u2019s continuous efforts to establish peace in the region,\u201d Momeni was cited as saying, adding that the visit from the Pakistani side was \u201cbeneficial\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The ministers also reviewed progress on the ongoing cooperation between their interior ministries in various sectors, the statement added.<\/p>\n<p>Naqvi, meanwhile, said that \u201cbilateral relations will become even stronger\u201d between Pakistan and Iran in the coming days.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Iranian media outlets reported that Naqvi had arrived in Tehran and was received at the airport by Momeni.<\/p>\n<p>Naqvi\u2019s visit to Tehran comes as Pakistan continues its diplomatic efforts to rescue the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in July between the United States and Iran and intended to end the conflict that began with US-Israeli attacks on Iran in late February.<\/p>\n<p>Although Pakistan has been pivotal in facilitating talks and the interim ceasefire over the course of the conflict, Iranian state broadcaster <em>IRIB<\/em> cited the country\u2019s foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei as saying on Saturday that Naqvi\u2019s visit would \u201cfocus on bilateral relations, and there is no plan to exchange any specific messages regarding mediation\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In July, Naqvi met with Momeni as the latter undertook an official visit to Pakistan, where the two reviewed bilateral relations, trade, regional developments and avenues for cooperation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: Iran on Monday thanked Pakistan\u2019s military and civilian leadership for its efforts for regional peace and stability.
