{"id":2914,"date":"2026-08-30T15:44:02","date_gmt":"2026-08-30T15:44:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diplomag.com.pk\/?p=2914"},"modified":"2026-08-30T15:44:02","modified_gmt":"2026-08-30T15:44:02","slug":"pml-n-leadership-stresses-immediate-resolution-of-ajk-issues-in-meeting-with-gillani","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diplomag.com.pk\/index.php\/2026\/08\/30\/pml-n-leadership-stresses-immediate-resolution-of-ajk-issues-in-meeting-with-gillani\/","title":{"rendered":"PML-N leadership stresses immediate resolution of AJK issues in meeting with Gillani"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>LAHORE<\/strong>: Azad Jammu and Kashmir\u2019s newly elected Prime Minister Barrister Syed Iftikhar Ali Gillani called on his party\u2019s leadership in Lahore on Sunday, with the latter stressing the need for the \u201cimmediate resolution\u201d of issues of the Kashmiri people.<\/p>\n<p>The huddle included PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and AJK Legislative Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Tariq Farooq, according to a post on the party\u2019s X account.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, Nawaz shared a \u201creform plan for the first 100 days\u201d of Gillani\u2019s tenure, the post said, adding that it was aimed at strengthening health, education, cleanliness, infrastructure and other sectors.<\/p>\n<p>He instructed Gillani to set AJK on the course of development, similar to Punjab, it said.<\/p>\n<p>Gillani and Farooq expressed gratitude to the party\u2019s senior leadership for \u201ctheir confidence\u201d in him, while the latter congratulated Gillani and Farooq.<\/p>\n<p>A day earlier, the AJK PM had\u00a0assured\u00a0the business community and students that his government would restore internet services at educational institutions and remove restrictions on road links with Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa within the next few days.<\/p>\n<p>PM Gillani had also expressed concern over the situation in\u00a0Rawalakot, saying his government would make every effort to bring it under control.<\/p>\n<p>AJK has been gripped by protests, including in Rawalakot, staged by the now-proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee that had announced a boycott of the recently held elections in the region over its demand for abolishing 12 seats reserved in the assembly for families displaced from occupied Kashmir.<\/p>\n<p>The protests have been marred by violence while AJK continues to face internet disruptions.<\/p>\n<p>Against this backdrop, the elections in the region, originally scheduled for July 27, were\u00a0divided\u00a0into phases over security concerns amid unrest in the region.
