{"id":2864,"date":"2026-08-27T15:27:49","date_gmt":"2026-08-27T15:27:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diplomag.com.pk\/?p=2864"},"modified":"2026-08-27T15:27:49","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T15:27:49","slug":"cdf-munir-kuwaiti-delegation-vow-to-strengthen-defence-partnership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diplomag.com.pk\/index.php\/2026\/08\/27\/cdf-munir-kuwaiti-delegation-vow-to-strengthen-defence-partnership\/","title":{"rendered":"CDF Munir, Kuwaiti delegation vow to strengthen defence partnership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ISLAMABAD<\/strong>: Pakistan and Kuwait reaffirmed the resolve to \u201cconsolidate their historic and brotherly relations into a strong, enduring and mutually beneficial defence partnership\u201d, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>A Kuwaiti delegation led by Defence Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Saleem Al-Sabah met Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, ISPR said in a\u00a0statement.<\/p>\n<p>The Kuwaiti minister was accompanied by Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces Lt Gen Khaled Darj Saad Al-Shriaan.<\/p>\n<p>The two sides discussed \u201cmatters of mutual interest, regional security and bilateral defence cooperation\u201d, ISPR said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing institutional ties and expanding mutually beneficial defence collaboration between the two brotherly countries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ISPR added that \u201cthe Kuwaiti delegation appreciated the professionalism, operational excellence and valuable contributions of the Pakistan Armed Forces towards regional peace and stability\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The two sides discussed contributing to regional security and stability as well.<\/p>\n<p>Pakistan and Kuwait also signed \u2018Protocol Agreement 2026\u2019, \u201csignificantly expanding bilateral military cooperation\u201d under their 2023 Defence Cooperation Agreement, state-run\u00a0<em>Pakistan TV<\/em>\u00a0reported.<\/p>\n<p>The pact was signed during a meeting between the Kuwait defence minister and his Pakistani counterpart Khawaja Asif in Rawalpindi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPakistan\u2019s Armed Forces will assist Kuwait in training, capacity building, border management and other mutually agreed areas of defence cooperation,\u201d\u00a0<em>Pakistan TV<\/em> added.<\/p>\n<p>The signing comes about a month after Kuwait\u00a0ratified\u00a0the 2023 agreement with Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>Days after the ratification, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah paid an\u00a0official visit\u00a0to Pakistan, where he met CDF Munir and discussed matters of mutual interest and regional security.<\/p>\n<p>Sheikh Jarrah had expressed appreciation for Pakistan\u2019s steadfast support and constructive contribution toward regional peace and stability.<\/p>\n<p>During his visit, which was the first by a Kuwaiti foreign minister in more than five years, Sheikh Jarrah also called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s been a\u00a0noticeable uptick\u00a0in high-level contacts between the two countries over the past few mon\u00adths, including exchanges between senior military officials and discussions on expanding defence cooperation, as Kuwait broadened its security partnerships amid continuing volatility across the Gulf.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Kuwait reaffirmed the resolve to \u201cconsolidate their historic and brotherly relations into a strong, enduring and mutually beneficial defence partnership\u201d, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.
