{"id":2820,"date":"2026-08-24T15:22:15","date_gmt":"2026-08-24T15:22:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diplomag.com.pk\/?p=2820"},"modified":"2026-08-24T15:22:15","modified_gmt":"2026-08-24T15:22:15","slug":"four-labourers-killed-by-unknown-assailants-in-balochistans-pishin-district","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diplomag.com.pk\/index.php\/2026\/08\/24\/four-labourers-killed-by-unknown-assailants-in-balochistans-pishin-district\/","title":{"rendered":"Four labourers killed by unknown assailants in Balochistan&#8217;s Pishin district"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>QUETTA<\/strong>: Four labourers working on an under-construction road were killed by unidentified armed men near the Saranan area of Balochistan\u2019s Pishin district on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said the incident took place in the Sulemanzai area along the Quetta-Chaman Highway.<\/p>\n<p>Balochistan Chief Minister\u2019s aide for political and media affairs Shahid Rind confirmed the incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe labourers were working on an under-construction road in the area when armed men targeted them,\u201d Rind said, adding that one labourer sustained injuries and was taken to the district hospital along with the bodies.<\/p>\n<p>Police and security forces rushed to the site and started an investigation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArmed men arrived at the site on motorcycles and opened fire on the labourers,\u201d a senior police officer posted in the area said on condition of anonymity. He added that the four labourers were killed on the spot after sustaining multiple bullet wounds.<\/p>\n<p>Sources said the victims were from Punjab and had come to the area in search of work.<\/p>\n<p>The incident was the second such attack in the area in the past three days.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, armed men\u00a0blew up\u00a0a police station in Saranan town in the presence of hundreds of people, planting explosives after taking control of the facility.<\/p>\n<p>According to official sources, armed men entered the town\u2019s bazaar and surrounded the local police station. They entered the building, took police personnel hostage and ransacked official records.<\/p>\n<p>The attackers later planted explosives at different points inside the police station before bringing the police personnel out of the building and detonating the explosives. Officials said no one was killed or injured, although the police station was badly damaged.<\/p>\n<p>Police said on Sunday that five bodies, including those of four men who had reportedly been shot dead, were\u00a0recovered\u00a0from different parts of Balochistan, including Chaman, Mastung and Sohbatpur.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, eight people were\u00a0killed\u00a0in separate incidents across Balochistan, including a passenger bus driver shot dead in Kachhi and two people gunned down in Khuzdar, police said.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies\u2019 (PICSS) monthly security\u00a0assessment\u00a0released on July 31, the security situation deteriorated most significantly in Balochistan in the country last month.<\/p>\n<p>The overall death toll increased by 241pc in Balochistan, from 109 in June to 372 in July, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>Security personnel deaths in Balochistan increased from six in June to 62 in July, representing a rise of 933pc. Terrorist deaths rose from 75 to 238, while civilian deaths increased by 93pc, from 28 to 54.
