White at the Prime Minister\u2019s House in Islamabad.<\/p>\n<p>US Charg\u00e9 d\u2019Affaires in Pakistan Natalie Baker also attended the meeting.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media  w-full  w-full  media--  media--embed  \" data-original-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=OChGqwu_yjo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz said there was \u201cgreat scope\u201d for a fruitful partnership with Google and for strengthening bilateral ties in various areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPakistan is going through a major digital transformation. In many areas of our governance, there is a youth bulge and we can really turn around Pakistan\u2019s fortunes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are doing a lot and a lot more needs to be done.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Google\u2019s vice president described his visit as a \u201cbig milestone\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGoogle has been investing in and committed to Pakistan for over a decade, and today we have reached a milestone where we are opening a local office in Pakistan,\u201d White said.<\/p>\n<p>He appreciated PM Shehbaz\u2019s vision of turning Pakistan into a $30 billion IT export hub.<\/p>\n<p>White added that Google was partnering with Pakistan to advance this vision in three ways: by investing in Pakistani people; by investing in manufacturing and infrastructure around export hardware; and, thirdly, by investing in local businesses.<\/p>\n<p>He said Pakistan\u2019s digital transformation was only possible through investment in its people, and that Google had already contributed to the upskilling of over one million Pakistanis through its career certificate programmes, in collaboration with schools and teachers, to prepare them for the digital transformation ahead.<\/p>\n<p>He further announced that Google Gemini subscriptions would be made free for all students in Pakistan for one year, with a formal announcement to follow later in the week.<\/p>\n<p>PM Shehbaz, along with the Google official, formally inaugurated Google\u2019s Pakistan office, terming it a \u201cstepping stone\u201d towards a long journey of collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, the government and the tech giant\u00a0launched\u00a0a joint initiative, \u2018AI Seekho 2026\u2019, to equip Pakistan\u2019s youth with artificial intelligence skills through vibe coding.<\/p>\n<p>The nationwide initiative aims to equip developers and young professionals with cutting-edge artificial intelligence capabilities, entirely free of financial barriers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: Google, the US-based technology giant, on Tuesday inaugurated its local office in Pakistan.
