{"id":2527,"date":"2026-08-08T17:52:22","date_gmt":"2026-08-08T17:52:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diplomag.com.pk\/?p=2527"},"modified":"2026-08-08T17:52:22","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T17:52:22","slug":"captain-martyred-7-terrorists-killed-in-hangu-operation-ispr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diplomag.com.pk\/index.php\/2026\/08\/08\/captain-martyred-7-terrorists-killed-in-hangu-operation-ispr\/","title":{"rendered":"Captain martyred, 7 terrorists killed in Hangu operation: ISPR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>RAWALPINDI<\/strong>: The military\u2019s media affairs wing said on Saturday that a captain was martyred while seven terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2019s Hangu district.<\/p>\n<p>In a\u00a0statement, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said security forces conducted an IBO in Hangu on Friday following reports about the presence of terrorists belonging to\u00a0<em>Fitna al Khawarij<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 a term the state uses for terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>During the operation, troops effectively engaged the terrorists, it said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn desperation, the\u00a0<em>khawarij<\/em>\u00a0took refuge inside a mosque, blatantly disregarding the sanctity of the place of worship. In ensuing fire exchange, seven\u00a0<em>khawarij<\/em>\u00a0belonging to Indian-sponsored\u00a0<em>Fitna al Khawarij<\/em> were sent to hell,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p>The statement went on to say that during the exchange of fire, 27-year-old Captain Hamza Akram, a resident of Punjab\u2019s Narowal district who was \u201cleading his troops from front and relentlessly pursuing\u201d the terrorists, embraced martyrdom.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWeapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed\u00a0<em>khawarij<\/em>, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces and law enforcement agencies as well as killing of innocent civilians,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p>ISPR said that a sanitisation operation was being conducted to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored terrorists in the area.<\/p>\n<p>President Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to the martyred captain, saying, \u201cThe motherland pays its profound tribute to the great sacrifice of its brave son.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe entire nation is indebted to the eternal sacrifices of these brave sons for the motherland,\u201d the president added, offering prayers for the bereaved family.<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep grief over Captain Akram\u2019s martyrdom while hailing his courage and devotion, state-run\u00a0<em>APP<\/em>\u00a0reported.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement issued by his office, PM Shehbaz lauded the security forces for eliminating seven terrorists \u201coperating under the Indian patronage\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe nation will never forget the sacrifices of its brave sons,\u201d the press release quoted him as saying. He prayed for the captain\u2019s elevated ranks and for patience for his family.<\/p>\n<p>The prime minister reiterated that operations against\u00a0<em>Fitna al Khawarij<\/em>\u00a0would continue till complete elimination of terrorism.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe sacrifices rendered by our brave armed forces and law-enforcement agencies for the defence, peace and security of the country and nation will not go in vain,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n<p>Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also paid tribute to the martyred captain and offered his condolences to the bereaved family. He said that the officer had paid the ultimate sacrifice for the homeland and would remain alive in our hearts.<\/p>\n<p>A day earlier, ISPR\u00a0said\u00a010 terrorists were killed in two separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
