{"id":2500,"date":"2026-08-06T18:13:53","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T18:13:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diplomag.com.pk\/?p=2500"},"modified":"2026-08-06T18:13:53","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T18:13:53","slug":"cdf-munir-discusses-stronger-defence-security-ties-with-somalia-ispr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diplomag.com.pk\/index.php\/2026\/08\/06\/cdf-munir-discusses-stronger-defence-security-ties-with-somalia-ispr\/","title":{"rendered":"CDF Munir discusses stronger defence, security ties with Somalia: ISPR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ISLAMABAD<\/strong>: Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir discussed the enhancement of bilateral defence and security cooperation with Somalia in a meeting with the country\u2019s defence minister, the military\u2019s media wing said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>According to a press release by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a high-level defence delegation from Somalia called on the CDF at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.<\/p>\n<p>The delegation was led by Somalia\u2019s Defence Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, the ISPR said.<\/p>\n<p>CDF Munir reaffirmed Pakistan\u2019s commitment to \u201csupporting Somalia in strengthening its security apparatus and fostering enduring peace in the region\u201d, the statement added.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, \u201cmatters of mutual interest, regional security dynamics, and measures to further enhance bilateral defence and security cooperation were discussed\u201d, it said, adding that both sides underscored the importance of \u201cdeepening military-to-military ties and capacity building initiatives to counter common security challenges\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan\u2019s steadfast support and the professional role played by the Pakistan Armed Forces in promoting regional peace and stability, the ISPR said.<\/p>\n<p>The previous day, the naval and air force chiefs reaffirmed Pakistan\u2019s commitment to strengthening defence ties with Somalia and supporting institutional cooperation with its air force in separate meetings with the Somali delegation, the military\u2019s media wing said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>At the meeting at Naval Headquarters with Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, the leaders discussed \u201ckey matters of mutual professional interest, regional maritime security and bilateral defence collaboration\u201d, according to the statement. The naval chief reaffirmed Pakistan\u2019s commitment to further strengthening defence ties with Somalia.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in a meeting with Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu at Air Headquarters, discussions focused on bilateral defence cooperation, professional collaboration and capacity building, the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>The Somali defence minister lauded the Pakistan Navy\u2019s contributions to regional maritime security, alongside PAF\u2019s professionalism and operational capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Pakis\u00adtan and Somalia\u00a0agreed\u00a0in January to strengthen collaboration in training, border management, disaster management and the adoption of a joint strategy against terrorism to deepen cooperation in internal security.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement was reached as Pakistan\u2019s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met a high-level Somali delegation led by Somalia\u2019s Interior Minister Ali Yusuf at the Ministry of Interior.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir discussed the enhancement of bilateral defence and security cooperation with Somalia in a meeting with the country\u2019s defence minister, the military\u2019s media wing said on Thursday.
