{"id":2147,"date":"2026-07-09T15:53:15","date_gmt":"2026-07-09T15:53:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diplomag.com.pk\/?p=2147"},"modified":"2026-07-09T15:53:15","modified_gmt":"2026-07-09T15:53:15","slug":"punjab-assembly-speaker-cm-maryam-discuss-legislative-matters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diplomag.com.pk\/index.php\/2026\/07\/09\/punjab-assembly-speaker-cm-maryam-discuss-legislative-matters\/","title":{"rendered":"Punjab Assembly speaker, CM Maryam discuss legislative matters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>LAHORE<\/strong>: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan had a second one-on-one meeting in a week over the matters concerning the provincial legislature.<\/p>\n<p>In Wednesday\u2019s meeting, CM Maryam was particular about \u201cinclusive legislation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She said it should be ensured that both treasury and opposition members be consulted in the legislative process.<\/p>\n<p>Khan said the CM\u2019s direction would be followed and the proceedings of the Punjab Assembly would be held through mutual coordination.<\/p>\n<p>Both also discussed legislative matters related to prison reforms and the controversial bill \u2013 the\u00a0Punjab Control of Habitual Offenders and Anti-Social Behaviour Bill, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Speaker Khan praised the chief minister for presenting what he termed an outstanding policy at the National Paigham-i-Aman Committee. He also lauded the launch of the \u201cApna Khet, Apna Rozgar\u201d scheme and congratulated the chief minister on the balloting held under the initiative.<\/p>\n<p>The chief minister described the \u201cApna Khet, Apna Rozgar\u201d scheme as the achievement of the entire team and said the Punjab government was introducing new public welfare projects every day.<\/p>\n<p>She said the government\u2019s focus was now on underdeveloped areas, where electric buses were being introduced on roads and modern agricultural machinery was being brought to improve the farming sector.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan had a second one-on-one meeting in a week over the matters concerning the provincial legislature.
